Web Design Secrets For Professional Photographers: Five Keys to a Successful Website
Professional photographers are aware that if they are going to be in business, they are going to need a website. This is particularly true for photographers who focus on wedding photography and portraiture – potential clients want to see what you can do before they give you a call. Even if they do happen to call before viewing your work, they may ask for the address of your website. If you don’t have one, rightfully or unrightfully, you may be considered an amateur – and perception is just as valid as reality.
Many companies, like Yahoo! and GoDaddy.com and many others will provide software for you to create your own pages if your sign up for their hosting services. Some photographers may find it easier to let a professional web designer put their site together for them. Or better yet, learn the basics of web design and create your own. That way you get to add samples or monthly specials whenever you want. Either way, there are five key elements that every site should have. Most web designers focus only on the design element of web creation and fail to see the sales power and marketing muscle that can be yours when used effectively. Here are five key ideas:
1-You must establish credibility – freely present your credentials and a nice portfolio. Avoid unprofessional graphics at all costs, misspellings, and grammatical errors. The most important message you can telegraph to your prospect is your work. In it holds your biggest benefit that you bring to your prospect. They must be able to see your best work, and as many samples as possible.
2-User-friendliness – make it easy for your site visitors to navigate – they shouldn’t have to go backward to go forward. Or wait for slow loading flash files or work their way through cluttered layouts. And, please avoid the number one mistake that 90% of the photographers do over and over. What is it? Black background with light or white text. I know, I know, you want to look cccooooolll and artsy. But the fact is, and many studies have proven this to be true, that black text on white is the most easily read. Think about it. We read newspapers, magazines, books etc etc etc….alll black text with white backgrounds. Why do you want to go against the current? Ego. That’s why. Don’t let your ego steer you. Let common sense be your guide.
3-Include a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. You’ll be the one to write and answer the questions, anticipating your customer’s needs for information. This is your chance to add facts that don’t fit neatly onto your other pages. Of course you can include portrait planning tips, location ideas that work best for specific portrait ideas or at certain areas in your area. Include as much information as you can possibly come up with to pre-emptivelly answer the questions your prospect has in their heads. This is a great opportunity to help your prospect in a consultive way. You will be perceived as professional and someone whom they will want to do business with.
4-Promote your site. By this I mean managing traffic that arrives to your site through search engines and other online methods or any traffic that is generated by other media sources outside of the web, such as your local newspaper, yellow pages, business cards etc. You can easily and readily find out how many searches are done using specific search terms to do with your city or town. Have your site optimized so it ranks high enough in the search engines and you will get pre-qualified and targeted leads visiting your site. You can also buy qualified leads from google.com or overture.com. Your websites’ job is to effectively sell these leads into clients. Overture and sites such as wordtracker .com have programs you can use to help you research search terms.
5-Sell. That’s right, sell. Too many portrait studio owners are afraid of selling. They seem to think it is nasty and negative thing. Fact is selling is simply offering a fair and mutually beneficial service. The more you tell you better you sell. You mustn’t be afraid to extol the virtues of your service by making offers, pointing out the benefits and backing up those benefits with the features. The truth is people are afraid of salespeople who don’t reveal enough information. That’s why your website is the perfect opportunity to sell, and have the site do a lot of the selling for you by using an informative and consultive approach.
A website should be a reflection of what your business is. You can’t add anything to your web site message that conflicts with the reality that already exists. If you offer great service and products and have a great reputation within your community, your website will be an extension of that message.
A website will not magically create anything for you. You must have something to offer. This is your message. It is what makes you and your business different from all others. Your website is merely a delivery method of your message. An extension of you and our studio.
If you have an innovative approach to your packaging and products, that is a part of your message and it will and should be used as part of your sales message. If you have a dirty, cluttered place and your website suggests otherwise, what kind of message will you give to clients when they do show up at your place of business after they’ve checked out your website?
Take a good look at what exactly your business message is. What is your typical client like? How do they usually buy from you? These are basic, yet essential questions that will reveal more information for you to use in your marketing arsenal.
Remember that your website is an ad, and advertising is selling. Selling is serving. And serving is informing. With that golden rule as a guide you can never create ads or offers that otherwise would hold anything other than the customers needs as top priority. And you will profit by building a trusting and repeat client base.

Australian Open Debuts Cutting Edge Tennis Equipment
The beginning of the 2006 Tennis Pro Tour kicks off this week in
Australia. The Australian Open kicks off the Grand Slam
tournament race and offers an incredible opportunity to tennis
manufacturers to preview the newest tennis
equipment technology. Millions of tennis fans are watching
closely to see who will reign and to find the newest and coolest
tennis equipment and apparel.
Pros like Maria Sharapova are sure to show off the newest
advances in products like Prince’s O3 Hybrid Shark. The Shark
line has undergone significant design changes since its last
release, and where better than the Australian Open to debut
their new racquet? Meanwhile Andy Roddick will be sporting the
Babolat Team All Court shoe which is already available for
purchase by the public. Roddick’s racquet is sure to create a
buzz this year since he will be using a brand new racquet from
Bobolat which has been kept top secret until this week at the
Australian Open.
The Australian Open also brings Lleyton Hewitt
the opportunity to show off his new Yonex shoes. Hewitt formerly
used Nike, but he has recently made a change. His new shoes will
be available in March or April to the public. Barbara Schett, a
European tennis powerhouse, will be using the new Wilson W6
racquet, part of their new W Line, designed specifically for
women.
Finally, a number of pros on tour like Guillermo Coria and Marat
Safin will be using new Adidas Barricade IV shoes. Although
these tennis shoes are available now for purchase in several
colors, Safin and Coria will be using special limited addition
shoes. This special Barricade shoe line of only 1000 pairs will
be showcased by players like Safin and Coria will have pairs 1
and 2.
It doesn’t matter which player or line of tennis equipment, the
fans and amateur players will be excited to see the new
technology, styles and performance enhancement brought by this
new equipment.
When you want to shop like the pros, you need to be smart about
it. Intermediate players understand that the racquets and
equipment the pros use are complicated and multi faceted. Just
because Lleyton Hewitt uses a specific racquet or pair of shoes,
doesn’t mean just any player can use that equipment and then
have the same skill or control. Beginning players should note
that rackets especially can be hard to use without the control
and strength of the pro tennis players.
Also, just because you see this equipment being used today,
doesn’t mean that it will be available for purchase right away.
Premier Websites that can offer 95% of the equipment on the
market won’t have access to some equipment until a few months
after they debut at tournaments like the Australian Open.
Here are some things to consider before you invest in cutting
edge tennis equipment:
1. Are you looking for equipment to enhance your power or
control?
2. Racquet Head Size
3. Weight of the Racquet
4. Racquet String Pattern
5. Racquet Grip Size
6. Racquet and Shoe Technologies
If you have a brand you prefer already, you may be able to buy
without a test drive, but generally, the smart tennis equipment
buyer should head to a local sporting goods store to try grip
size, racquet weight and the overall feel of a debut racquet
before you run out to buy. Of course, you don’t have to buy
locally – take the information you gather to the internet to get
the best price.
Why use an online tennis store? These websites will
introduce cutting edge tennis equipment faster than sporting
goods stores and they will probably charge less due to low
overhead. The best sites to buy from have been around for a long
time and are involved in the industry.
If the cutting edge tennis equipment and technology appeals to
you, you don’t just have to wait for the Grand Slam Tournaments.
There are industry websites like, Tennis Wire, which give
you up to date articles and press releases from all of the major
tennis equipment manufacturers. Use the information you find to
start your web search for more information. When the new
racquets are available for purchase, you’ll be able to buy with
confidence.
The Australian Open is sure to provide great competition and
exciting tennis. Don’t forget to look for debut tennis newest
equipment and technology. If you want to invest, begin by
looking online for user reviews and match your level of skill
with the tennis racquet you choose. If you’re a smart buyer and
you choose wisely, you’ll have cutting edge tennis equipment
that will help you truly improve your game.

Golf Course Management
Playing a good round of golf comes with a lot of good golf course management. Sure it is great to know how to have a great golf swing, but if you haven’t got course management, then you haven’t got a game plan.
Have you ever noticed a professional golfer standing beside their caddie in a discussion about the next golf shot at hand? You can rest assured that they were not talking about Larry King live, unless he was in the pro-am the day before and he was leading the tournament. They are discussing the previous results and golf placement on where they hit their golf shot the prior hole before in the practice round or regulation round. Course management is what they are talking about. Every golf shot is tagged to the nearest yard. If you want to play a good golf shot, you have to know your distance and what type of situation you’re up against. This is where good golfers with a good course management excel over their competition.
Taking all the great golfers and great golf swings into consideration, without the proper knowledge about distance, wind, uphill, downhill and all the great earthly weather that is always a surprise at times can be quite demanding to the best golfer at times. If you think that all you need is a great golf swing and a great set of golf clubs, you should rethink your game again. A lot of great golfers fall prey to a golfer with better course management. These same golfers with good course management do not need to out distance their competitor. They just need to place their ball where the next golf shot is a walk in the park.
If you haven’t got a clue about course management, your handicap is going to soar into the high double-digit figures. When you are talking about the shot at hand, you must take in consideration the prior distance and weather condition on your previous shot with the club selection at hand. Was the golf shot uphill with a wind behind you or against you? When choosing a golf club, one must ask a series of questions before making a formal decision. Do I want to play my next shot over a sand trap? Do I want to play my next golf shot with a pitching wedge or a 7 iron? In other words, do I want to fly the golf shot into the green, or place it where I can bump and run the next golf shot into the green?
Course management requires the golfer in paying attention to golf holes that are next to the hole that they are playing. They are constantly looking for good golf position for the next hole before they even tee up the golf ball. They are also checking out greens as far as slope and surrounding sand traps. Knowing where pin placement is, way before you’re sitting out in the middle of the fairway will definitely help on club selection. You may decide to play less club, because of the simple fact of a two-tier green and the pin is sitting on the bottom level. You would never have that knowledge at hand if you did not eye the situation on the prior hole unless you played it once before. It is called course management.
Take a good look at the golf terrain and conditions that you are playing in and pay attention to golf holes that you walk by. Knowing the golf terrain well in advance will make it a lot easier on golf club selection and help drive confidence going forward.

Illegal Immigration; What Can We Do About It?
Some say that the people coming over our border are just trying to build a better life? Well not all of them, some come to join gangs, sell drugs or steal cars. Did you know that currently if you are caught three times you are barred for life from even visiting currently, in AZ over 35% of the Prison population is illegal aliens, that is a huge cost indeed.
One man stated; “How about creating Immigration posts along the border with Mexico and as the US deports the illegals, tell them to get in line to legalize themselves – not put them in jail along with hardened criminals?”
If we had bio-metric ID cards for those immigrating or on work visas, we could have a simple plan, but we need to be paid back transportation costs too. This should not be a burden on the taxpayer either. If someone committed a crime, deport for life, if we had our borders secure, we could do this, if not, well it would all be talk and basically that is where we have been all along.
We want tourism, trade, money flows back, as so much money has been sent there. Mexican Nationals travel here and Americans travel there, we reciprocate, these are good things. We have many zones where so many people come and go each day that those cities like El Paso are really “free zones” in other words the check points are after the city and often the border is a chain link fence with houses on both sides and shopping carts lined up for those who hop the fence to buy groceries so in that case, I wonder who we think we are kidding here really.
We need to take into consideration the issues of disruption also, those could be quite serious, but as it stands now, may as well have no border than this charade. We need a fair plan, streamline immigration and protect our country and the laws here. Besides during wartime let’s not do anything stupid either. Let’s consider this in 2006.

The Essential Guide to the Fantasy Basketball Cheat Sheet: Part II
As I mentioned in Part I of this article, preparing for a fantasy league draft is a lot of work. Part I of this article discussed how to make a scoring category Cheat Sheet, but the real work is in making position based Cheat Sheets.
In Yahoo Fantasy NBA your roster consists of a Point Guard, Shooting Guard, Guard, Small Forward, Forward, two Centers and two Utility players. Each roster spot plays a full 82 game schedule. Additionally, you chose three bench players.
Obviously, you have to come up with some sort of draft order by position. This involves ranking your players by position using last season’s statistics. I consider every single scoring category when making my positional Cheat Sheets. I make a simple grid with the players name and statistical scoring categories for every player I would consider drafting. For the non-percentage based scoring categories I try to use per game averages to make it a little more clear what each player is going to give me every night.
For example, my Power Forward Cheat Sheet starts out with Shawn Marion – http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3332 whose averages last season were: FG%: 47, FT%: 83, 3PM: 1.4 per game, Points: 19 per game, Rebounds: 11 per game, Blocks: 1.5 per game, Steals: 1.4 per game, Assists: 2 per game and Turnovers: 1.5 per game. If a player is in the top 5 statistically for a scoring category for that position, I try to circle or high light those specific numbers. A player like Marion has lots of circled and highlighted numbers. I also try to highlight especially bad numbers to consider, like Allen Iverson’s Turnovers or Shaq’s Free Throw Percentage. I do this for every player that I would consider drafting.
It is an exhausting exercise, and may lead to certain levels of alienation from your significant other (i.e. wife or girlfriend), but it’s what you have to do to win.
Once you have your grid made, you need to use it to decide on a depth chart for your choices of who to draft. This is the equivalent of the Draft Board that real NBA teams use when drafting. My Power forward list starts with Kevin Garnett and makes it’s way down to Mike Sweetney… I don’t just use last years numbers in deciding this order, you have to take into consideration all the variables for the coming season: potential for injury, player age, a new coach, off season trouble, the impact of free agent acquisitions or draftees on that players minutes and gut instinct. It’s important to know the numbers, but not be a slave to them.
Once I have each Cheat Sheet made by position, I start pre-ranking all my players for the draft, using the cheat sheet as a guide. I try to “spy” on some other Yahoo Fantasy drafts to get good estimates on what round each player will typically be drafted in to rank players. (See the Article “Spy on Someone Else’s Draft” to find out how to do this.) Make your Pre-ranking list completely exhaustive, because the draft will go over 140 players deep.
On draft day I have my Statistical Cheat Sheet and Positional Cheat Sheets close by for reference. The best part about spending all the time making Cheat Sheets, is after putting in all the time to make them, you don’t even have to look at them that much, because you have learned what each player offers by creating them.
Good Luck. Now get to work!

Indian Cricket And Its Effect On International Tourism
Cricket in India is religion personified. The zeal and passionate frenzy with which the game is played, followed and analyzed is unmatched anywhere else in the world. Cricket is to India as Soccer is to Brazil. Sports have always been harbinger of friendship and peace. Indian cricket calendar is never empty and there is either one series or another just round the corner. While cricket teams move along from one part of the country to another, ardent followers of the game and fanatical supporters of the teams also move along. Thousands of international tourists pour in every year from different parts of the world to support the team while they take on India. Now it has almost become a regularity that all the hotels in the host city run full for a couple of days to a few days before and after the rubber.
Hotel reservation in India reaches a crescendo during the peak cricket season or at the time of a tour by a foreign team. Though tourists come with the primary objective to see a game of quality cricket and enjoy the carnival like atmosphere, there are enough attractions in India they can visit. Important cricket venues like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kolkata, Chennai, Goa, Nagpur, Indore and Bangalore are not only famous for wonderful cricket infrastructure but also as some of the finest tourist destinations. Since the itinerary is prepared early enough, tourists who plan to visit India with the cricket team have enough time to make the necessary hotel bookings in those particular fixtures. Last minute reservation in these cities on the days of the fixture can be pretty troublesome.
Hotels in India have now geared up for this new business prospect. Online hotel reservation in India has enabled hotels in India to make the most of cricket tourism. People who wish to travel to India can now book hotels well in advance through a travelsite that focuses exclusively on India. Making hotel reservation through www.desiya.com has a number of advantages. It is among a few travelsites of its kind that facilitates real time hotel booking. Purchase Cricket Equipment on the World Wide Web Today
When you are just starting out playing cricket it is not always straightforward to decide what you need to obtain. If you go into a sports equipment retail shop and ask them what you require, you will most likely finish up coming out with a great deal of equipment. With this in mind, it’s important to fathom what you will require previous to you going shopping. That way you are a great deal more likely to acquire what you need, as opposed to what the shop manager suggests you require.
Below, is more or less a complete cricket equipment list, you don’t have to get all the goods on this list, as lots of organisations will provide you equipment especially at junior level:
Cricket whites, cricket bats, balls, helmets, gloves, batting (wicket keeping) inner gloves, wicket keeping gloves, batting pads, wicket keeping pads, box, chest pad, arm guard, inner thigh pad, cricket boots (bowling boots; batting boots), box (groin guard), stumps and bails.
For most cricket events you will ever partake in you will require to have your own set of whites. Cricket whites consist of white cricket trousers & cricket shirt. It is very important to ensure that you buy a high-quality pair of cricket trousers as well as a nice white cricket shirt & jumper as it can get pretty cold if you are standing out on the pitch for a long time particularly if plan to play in England (the start and end of the cricket season are the coldest). For great offers on camping gear visit the Sportswear-Equipment.com today.
If you can not rent kit from your club the other most crucial items of equipment are a cricket bat and box. A good quality cricket bat is critical if you intend to score a lot of runs & is a very personal piece of cricket equipment, spend a few hours picking your bat, if at all possible you would be advised to go to a shop & try one out before you buy in order for you to know how it feels to hit with. When you know what you want you can often purchase bats on the Web much cheaper). You need a good box to guard your groin from the ball, as getting hit down below’ is very painful, so investing in a good box before you start is a clear must – you can’t play cricket without one.

Why Does a Long Layoff Make You Play Better Golf?
As the new golf season rolls around, you may find yourself saying the words, “I think I’ve got it”. Why? Because for most of us, the beginning of the season brings us some surprisingly good rounds of golf. It’s funny how you haven’t played golf seriously in about 4-6 months, yet right out of the gate, you end up playing some of the best golf of the year. This, of course, leaves you scratching your head because you remember how last year wasn’t so great. So what happened over the course of the winter that is allowing you to play so well now?
Maybe your new found skill occurs because you took a break over the winter months? Maybe it’s the new clubs you received for Christmas? Maybe you read a tip in a golf magazine? Or maybe you are taking the game less seriously? To be honest with you, it’s a little bit of all of these things. Here’s what I mean …
Taking a Break
When you take a break for a few months over the winter you seem to forget what you were working on at the end of last year. The things that were important to you then, aren’t so important anymore. This not only eases your mind but it also allows you to lighten up a little and stop you worrying about your swing. Because of this, you may play a little better at the start of the year.
Excuses … Excuses
Starting a new season gives you a great excuse if you play poorly. What is it? Simple … it’s the beginning of the season! Typically, the beginning of the season allows you to be a little more care free. This care free attitude allows you to have more fun and minimize your expectations. If your expectations are low you may be pleasantly surprised at how well you play.
Golf Tips
How does a golf tip make you play better golf at the beginning of the year? The obvious reason is that it may actually help to improve your swing. Secondly, it gets you thinking of 1 swing thought instead of 10. This concentration on only one thing allows you to remain focused instead of confused. This kind of clarity can help you play quite well at the beginning of the season as well.
New Equipment
When you try a new driver or putter it feels different versus your old club. Because of this, you’re thinking so much about the new feel of the new club that you forget about your swing. When you don’t think about your swing, you usually hit the ball quite well. So this too can add to some great rounds at the beginning of the season.
Summing It All Up
To sum it all up, all of these things I mentioned stop you from thinking too much about the mechanics of your swing when you go to play. If you aren’t thinking about the mechanics of your swing, you can think about getting the ball in the hole which is what you should be always thinking about every time you play, not just at the beginning of the season.
Until next time,

Improve Your Golf Performance With These 5 Tips
Improve your golf performance. Is that always on your mind? When you go out to golf you’re hoping for a good round. I know I do.
How often does your outcome match what you hoped for? Do you usually shoot the scores you had envisioned before you teed off? If not, do you ever evaluate where and how you could have saved strokes and avoided those blow up holes?
I’ve got 5 easy tips for you to implement immediately that will improve your golf performance by shaving 4-6 or even more strokes off your score the next time you play. Give them a try and see what happens. Here they are:
1. First off you’ve got to put the proper fuel in your body before you leave home. Most golfers don’t give it a second thought. They either don’t eat at all before they leave home or they eat something that is not going to give them the long-term energy they’re hoping for.
So whether it’s lunch or breakfast before you leave you need to consume a complex carbohydrate and a good protein source. This combination will warrant the best use of your energy for the long haul.
An example for breakfast would be a bowl of oatmeal and a couple of egss with a piece of fruit or a juice. For lunch you could have a turkey sandwich on whole wheat with a piece of fruit. Lot’s of lettuce on the sandwich and try to avoid mayonnaise or butter.
2. The second tip is to properly warm up your body before you even hit your first ball. I see so many golfers show up 5 minutes before tee time, hack a few balls and head to the first tee. Those golfers are headed for a double bogey right off the bat – but hey they’re just getting “warmed up” right?
A better approach is to give yourself at least 30 minutes before your tee time. First do some dynamic (movement oriented) stretches to prepare your body to perform.
Things like arm circles, partial squats, toe touches, etc. Then take some half swings with a 7 iron. Now after that you’re ready to hit some wedges. You’ll find with this approach your hits on the range will be much better, which will build your confidence.
3. Drink lots of water even before you leave your house. Try to consume up to a gallon of Water before you get to the course. This will help you absorb and digest your pre-game meal and hydrate your muscles for optimal performance.
Don’t take this lightly.
Dehydration causes energy loss, lack of focus and concentration and fatigue later in the round. And remember, that’s before you even come to the course. Once you get their you should be drinking water every hole.
4. Don’t wait ’til you get tight to stretch on the course. You should be constantly moving your body and stretching your joints while you play. I see and hear too many golfers complaining of tight lower backs or shoulders during the round, What amazes me is that with all that complaining they do nothing about it.
Why?
Think of your body as a machine. If the machine starts to break down – fix it. I mean stretch those areas while you’re playing. You’ll see a big difference in your swing mechanics late in the round.
5. Snack while you play. No I don’t mean the full meal at the turn with a beer. I mean bringing fruit and nutrition bars to eat every 4-6 holes. When you supply your body with the proper nutrients your energy levels stay balanced and you will avoid those mental lapses late in the round.
How many times have you had a good score only to blow up late in the round? I’ll bet more than a couple of times. I know I have. Treat your body like a Ferrari not a Ford Pinto.
These tips if applied, will definitely improve your golf performance!
