An Intro to Cancer of the Mesothelium: Unusual Cancer
Mesothelioma is a uncommon cancer of the tissues that line the person’s inside organs. Nearly two thousand new occurrences are recognized each year in the whole US. Of these, nearly three fourths of cases concern the sac that protects the lungs, referred to as the pleura. Also known as pleural mesothelioma. In about 10 to 20 percent of instances, mesothelioma cancer might affect the tissue that surrounds visceral organs, called the peritoneal membrane, resulting in what is then acknowledged as peritoneal mesothelioma.
Exposure to asbestos is positively the primary cause for this rare sickness. After exposure to asbestos, the time period to progression of the mesothelioma disease may be 2 to 4 decades. As a result of job related introduction, cancer of the mesothelium is nearly 3 times more regular in males, than in females. Because the mass of cases moves upward with your age, there are almost 10 times more occurrences in the men more than age 64 than in the men in their thirties.
Having Cancer of the mesothelium is a severe sickness, which, at the current moment, has a decidedly low rate of continuing endurance. On the other hand, if it is spotted quickly, treatments are then in existence that can notably stretch the patient’s life. New therapies continue to be and are being promoted by the way of clinical trials.

West Ham United – What a Difference a Year Makes
As we enter St Valentine’s week, many Hammers will be feeling full of love for everything about West Ham United. Sitting comfortably in the top half of the top division, and winning plaudits for their expansive style of play, everything is looking rosy for the claret and blues of east London. Whilst the seeds planted in the championship are now coming to full bloom, there were many who could not see the shoots of recovery slowly sprouting into life.
The same sweet nothings could not have been whispered this time last year. After the club had suffered relegation 18 months previously, the fans were growing impatient. Manager Alan Pardew was under increasing pressure, as his team of premiership hopefuls struggled to live up to the expectations of the devoted East End fans. Pardew’s West Ham were outside the play-off places in 7th place, an improvement on the 9th place they were languishing in a couple of weeks before.
The East End natives were restless. Not only were the points hard to come by, but the Hammers traditional entertaining attacking game was nowhere to be seen. Pardew had promised to get us promoted that season, his first full season in charge, and many could see we had the players to worry most teams. He had been shrewd in the transfer market, buying the best upcoming talent the lower divisions had to offer, often at bargain basement prices. Players such as Nigel Reo Coker and Marlon Harewood were picked up for next to nothing, whilst the exodus of high earners meant bodies needed replacing. Pardew made some good deals where by when a high earner left, another player coming in was part of the deal, Bobby Zamora and Matty Etherington, both acquired in this manner. Not to mention the talent that was emerging from West Ham’s highly productive youth academy. Yet it just didn’t seem to be working. Pardew was under the most pressure since he’d arrived at the club. A vocal minority in the crowd were calling for his head. He remained strong and showed great belief in himself and his players, but it seemed unless he got West Ham up the table quickly, his days were numbered.
At the time, I was well and truly sat on the fence. I could see the good work Pardew had done. He had streamlined the club, from one with a lot of players on fat salaries, to one full of talented hungry youngsters with their best years ahead of them, augmented by the odd experienced head. He’d shaken up the fitness and backroom sides of the club. There were plenty of good signs, but it just didn’t seem to be working. It seemed he was the man to take us forwards, but if we couldn’t make the play-offs, how could he hope to stay? That just about summed up my feelings at the time. If we failed to get promotion, I felt Pardew would have to go. Not that I wanted him to, but the feelings of the fans would surely dictate that. But, if we were to somehow gain promotion, surely we’d have a great manger for years to come. He’d have overcome the most pressure perhaps any West Ham manager ever faced, would have his players right behind him, and surely the fans would soon follow. He’d have been through the mill and out the other side, and would surely be a better manager because of it.
The pressure continued right up to the last day of the season, where West Ham finished in 6th place, the last of the play-off places. Compared to the pain, suffering and anguish that had gone before, the play-offs were a joy to behold. After drawing the 1st leg at home to Ipswich, many fans were fairly confident, as we’d beaten Ipswich away in the play-offs the previous year. A 2-0 win, and a Zamora wonder goal set up a final with Preston. A typically cagey affair was settled by a Zamora goal. The Hammers fans were full of joy, and Pardew had lived up to his word and got West Ham back to the premiership.
Now Pardew was in unchartered territory. Whilst it was hard to point to an unsuccessful signing, all Pardew’s players had been signed on a budget of nothing. He had to make cuts before he could bring anyone in, but with promotion achieved, that was soon to change. West Ham’s notoriously money-grabbing chairman announced he was giving Pardew a budget of £20million for the season to improve the squad. Pardew proved just as astute with money in his pocket as he had with nothing. Summer signings of Konchesky, Collins & Gabbidon, and Benayoun showed his nous. All were areas that need improvement, yet he somehow seemed to find exactly the right player for each role. Add to that the signing of 2 new keepers(Carroll & Hislop) for no fee and every thing was looking set for the season. He tried up until the last hour of deadline day to sign a top striker, but fate conspired against him.
So the season started, we went behind in our 1st game back. Many including myself, worried how we would cope. We came back to win 3-1, and have been resident in the top half ever since. So where did it all go right?
Well, Alan Pardew must take most of the credit. Not only in the players he brought to the club, but the way he saw which parts of the club were working well, and revolutionised those that weren’t. He never let the pressure faze him, nor did he waver from what he saw as the right path. On the fitness side of things, we must be one of the fittest squads in the division. Psychologically, he has installed the winning mentality. He doesn’t talk negatives, but focuses on the positive side of things. He’s brought a great feeling of togetherness to the playing squad, and all of this has created the sort of spirit and belief that West Ham have in the past struggled to find. The way we have come from behind to win more points than any other side shows the belief the players have in themselves and each other. You get the feeling the players on the pitch love playing for West Ham. The staff he brought in around him deserve almost as much praise. Certain players have improved before our eyes over the last couple of seasons. The coaching at the club is obviously of a very high level.
The chairman also deserves a mention. Not a favourite for many Hammers fans, who hold him responsible for the lack of ambition and selling policy that has been the way of things for the last decade. Terry Brown has since admitted mistakes were made selling our crown jewels, and has said that were a situation like the Rio transfer to arise again, things would be done differently. That is it would be the managers decision. That combined with the money given to Pardew to improve the side has gone a long way to winning back some of his doubters, and suggest West Ham are a club looking forwards with ambition.
Add to that the fact that West Ham are now again lighting up the top division with their brand of stylish attacking football, and it’s easy to see why so many Hammers now have a lot of love for Mr Pardew. It almost seems like fate has brought us this far together. There were many times when it seemed the relationship was doomed before it had really begun. Many seemingly insurmountable barriers had to be overcome if the relationship was to have any chance of success. Yet in the last few roller-coaster weeks of last season fate finally smiled on Alan and his boys. Now it seems the relationship is a happy one.
Like any lovers who have had their tough times, there will be the odd doubt occasionally when things aren’t perfect, the odd memory of when things weren’t so rosy. But when you sit down and look at all that has gone before, we couldn’t be happier with our man!
Dedicated to the memory of Ron Greenwood. The man who put us Hammers on the path we’ve been following for 40 odd years. His legacy lives on in the attacking entertaining football we play. R.I.P.

Graduation Diplomas For All
Graduation Tassel
A graduation tassel refers to the tail like cord that drapes from the graduation hat or cap. It is usually a finishing touch for the graduation attire. The tassels are usually fifteen centimeters long and come in all shades of colors. It is worn by all the graduating students however one should wear it accordingly or as directed by the school authorities.
A graduation tassel
should be worn on the right side at the appropriate time throughout the graduation ceremony. At times the side at which the tassel drapes on is based on the level studied whereby the undergraduates wear the tassel facing it on the right side and the graduates wearing them facing the left side. In other ceremonies graduates are asked to wear the tassels one side up then after being pronounced graduates they are told to shift them to the other side.
Usually a graduation tassel is the primary color of the school or a mixture of the school colors. There are even tassels that can accommodate three colors intertwined, though there are those tassels that have distinguished colors such as gold worn by a person graduating with the Latin honors. All this tassels can be bought / ordered online, as well as seeing the various colors and the charges.

Is The Golf Ball The Real Reason For Longer Drives ?
A Little History First
To determine this point, we have to travel back in time and see how the original golf ball was formed.
The original golf balls as most of us know, were made from goose feathers stuffed into a round leather ball. It is estimated that those could be hit as far as 170 yards with the modern club.
The next technological advance was the gutta percha ball. This was made from tree sap or rubber and compressed into a round mould. A modern club can hit this about 200 yards on average.
The Haskell method was to improve the ball construction, by having a soft core, and winding thin rubber around this core. This ball can be hit around the 225 to 250 yard range.
Further advances saw the introduction of a liquid core with a soft balata cover. However the ball became misshapen after several hits on it. It is rumoured that the great Ben Hogan passed his golf balls through a metal ring to check for roundness.
The modern golf ball has taken several leaps forward from those days. This golf ball is mainly made with a surlyn or a urethane cover, which offers the same feel as a balata covered ball.
Surlyn® is a synthetic, highly resilient, durable material that is used in the majority of golf balls in the industry. This material provides for a golf ball that will stand up to the durability test that the avid golfer demands, while allowing many different options for spin & distance combinations. Could last for many rounds of golf, assuming that you did not lose the golf ball first.
The core is formed with a mixture of polybutediene and other compounds to give this soft core. Over the past four years, golf ball technology has evolved from a primarily wound-ball construction to the solid core/two piece construction to the double-core/four piece construction.
The distances achieved with this ball can be in excess of 300 yards.
But Is That all There Is To It ?
No, there are still a few more key points to understand, like dimples, the affect of spin, compression, storage conditions, and the rules that govern golf ball construction.
How do dimple patterns affect the flight/trajectory of a golf ball?
Dimples provide the lift needed to get a ball airborne. Without them a golf ball’s performance would be severely restricted. Golf balls come in a variety of different dimple patterns. Some promote a higher flight trajectory that many golfers need, while others promote a lower, more piercing trajectory. In general though, balls with deeper dimples will tend to have a lower trajectory. Deeper dimples create more turbulence in the boundary layer, which makes it more difficult for air to flow over the ball creating less lift. Those with shallower dimples typically will generate a higher trajectory.
Dimple pattern – the dimple pattern on a golf ball does not affect the spin, it creates the aerodynamic lift that allows a spinning ball to remain in the air longer. Varying the dimple size also affects the aerodynamics of a ball. By matching the dimple pattern and the construction of a ball, manufacturers can optimise the resulting trajectory for both distance and control.
It is the combination of the lift and drag properties of the ball, as well as its speed, launch angle and spin rate, which will dictate the flight path or trajectory of the ball, and thus the distance it will go.
A perfectly smooth golf ball with no dimples would travel about 130 yards when hit with a driver by a good player. On the other hand, a ball with well-designed dimples, struck the same way, will travel about 290 yards.
Dimple design has changed significantly over time, from random patterns, to formal rows, to interstitial designs. The depth, shape and number have all been varied and tested.
Spin Rate
A golf ball’s spin rate refers to the speed it spins on an axis while in flight, measured in revolutions per minute (rpm). Spin rate off a driver generally ranges between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, while the average, cleanly struck wedge shot spins at about 10,000 rpm.
Spin generates lift, thus a shot’s spin rate directly influences how high the ball flies and how quickly it stops after landing. Beyond the manufacturer’s hype, there are real differences in ball construction affecting driving distance, approach control, putting roll, balance and cost.
Modern balls are made to very high standards of consistency and quality.
In driver shots, an excessive amount of spin will cause the ball to soar, resulting in a loss of distance. Too little spin will prevent lift and reduce carry. Keeping the amount of spin at an appropriate level and hitting shots that trace ideal parabolic paths are the formula for maximizing distance.
The manufacturer can affect the spin rate with a variety of methods. The main way appears to be by having a larger softer core, which in turn provides more spin less distance. Another method is to have the soft core encased in a mantle cover. This cover can be harder and thicker. The more flexible this cover the more spin.
Compression
Compression of a golf ball gradually became more of feel thing
In the end the constant high quality of 2-piece balls made compression as a quality index obsolete
Today the term compression is used in combination with a number ranging from 0 to 200. This figure tells us by how much a golf ball is deformed under a compressive force.
Although this term is now becoming obsolete it is still important to understand the importance of compression with regards to a golfer’s swing.
As golf balls are mass produced, all 3-piece balls and some 2-piece balls are measured by their compression and rated accordingly.
In order to do so balls are pressured with a standard weight. A ball, which does not deform is rated Compression 200, a ball that lets itself be deformed by 2/10 of an inch or more is rated Compression 0.
Standard Compression rate of a golf ball is 90 or 100. The lower the Compression rate the softer the feel. Most balls are subject to a rating by compression.
Surveys have shown that low speed swing players should use a ball with a Compression rate of 80. Average speed swing players should use Compression 100 and high speed swing players Compression 110.
However, new golf balls do not have an actual number, and prefer to say low spin rate or long distance. So read the label as they say.
How long can a golf ball last under normal storage conditions?
Under normal storage conditions (70-80 degrees Fahrenheit) a golf ball can last forever. However, it must be understood that certain factors can affect a ball’s overall performance.
Golf balls can lose their performance characteristics in cases of extreme heat or cold, and their construction is such that even under normal storage conditions, there can be a loss of performance over time.
But Is It The Ball Or The Club That Provides The Distance?
There are of course many factors, which have a direct impact on increased driving distance over the past 2 decades. Such factors as fitness, materials, courses, and technique, have helped increase the driving distance over the years.
Every manufacturer has developed a golf ball which has specific characteristic built in, whether it is distance, spin or mixture of both. The manufacturer is able to do, as they want to the ball. The Trend is going to a balance between spin (rpm) and higher launch angle and hence more distance.
Tests were carried out by Nick Faldo using a modern golf driver, on a gutta percha ball, and the ball did not travel more than 150 yards.
When he used an old wooden golf club, and a modern golf ball, the ball travelled more than 260 yards.
This showed that the modern golf ball is definitely the key to distance.
Conclusion
Golf balls are distance balls, constructed to stop quickly on the green, with less of the risk of slice or hook into trouble that a pure spin ball brings. Recent advances in construction technology are spawning a new breed of balls that can do it all, such as the Titleist ProV1, and Callaway Hex.
SLOW SWING (often called Ladies or Senior) balls are designed to optimise driving distance for less powerful players with slower club head speeds.
Most balls are imperfectly balanced and thus do not putt completely true. Premium quality balls may be manufactured to higher quality control standards and thus less likely to randomly wander off track.
Try to find out which modern affordable golf ball meets your style of play. It is better to play consistently with a ball you can afford than to play competitions with a premium ball that you cannot afford to practice with. Balls with cuts or used until no longer spherical add nothing to your game. Better to play an affordable ball and replace it regularly.

All the Information Students Should Understand about Health Insurance
It’s very easy to disregard health insurance while preparing for a college career. In general, the last thing on any student’s mind is how to cope with insurance needs. Younger people are likely to suppose they are immortal and naturally they can not become ill.
Regrettably, no matter how well an individual is, this is no guarantee of their continuing good health. Inexpensive student health insurance isn’t just for the rich, it’s a necessity. For those students fortunate to be covered under a parent’s insurance policy, almost all of them will extend to a college student until they turn twenty three. For the individual who does not currently have insurance coverage through their family policy, an important part in budgeting for college has to be finding an inexpensive health insurance policy.
So what’s significant in an insurance policy designed for students? What’s your deductible? It is a yearly payment that has to be made before the health benefits start, comparable to an auto deductible. To give an example, should your deductible be $500, you have to pay that amount prior to receiving any payment linked with the plan.
What is a co-pay? Once your deductible is met, commonly for every physician’s visit, medication, or operation you will be asked to contribute a pre-determined portion of the bill. This is termed co-pay. What is the range of insurance coverage? Almost all plans are Health Maintenance Organization or Partnership for Prescription Assistance (PPA). In essence this means certain physicians may be excluded from your approved medical professionals or not be included on the insurance plan. Most plans should include a listing of participating providers, before you make your selection ensure you consider this list with care.
Catastrophic coverage: Limits are common in student health insurance plans as far as terminal illness, the cover provided in most student medical insurance is more often than not less than a regular plan.
Restrictions: Budget student health coverage plans normally have some limits. It’s crucial to study any policy thoroughly to discover exactly what is and is not included.
Keep all your insurance details close to hand everywhere you go. Accidents and illnesses are not only not possible to anticipate, they’re also likely to take place when not anticipated. Ensure you’re acquainted with the ins and outs particular to your affordable college medical policy, whether through your parents or with your own selection of insurance.
Left Handed? You Can Get Assistance Financing College Education
It is far from easy to find a grant these days. School scholarships are unlike a student loan in that these are a grant for education, and consequently, don’t need to be paid back. While researching means of funding your university education, remember that funding is available at really unusual places, for instance scholarships especially for southpaw scholars. Left-Handed Scholarships: – A left-handed grant may look a little bit unusual, but it’s worth considering these facts: Julius Caesar was left handed, so is the president of the United States, Barack Obama. Raphael, Da Vinci, Bob Dylan not to mention J.F. Kennedy were also southpaws. An estimated 11% of the world’s population are left-handed. Often thought to be much more artistic and more intelligent, left handers have frequently suffered from discrimination. Today, lefties are no longer stigmatized or thought of as odd, as a matter of fact they are frequently linked with the many great people named above. There are various scholarships accessible for left handed students if you know where to search. The Frederick and Mary F. Beckley Scholarship for anything up to $1000$1k is currently available at Juniata College in Huntington, Pennsylvania. For students of Juniata College and instituted in the late 1970’s, this bursary assists a lot of students through school.
When looking for college scholarships, do be aware that a few grants have requirements and restrictions. In a few cases certain grades can be required or particular financial prerequisites must be satisfied. Apply for the maximum number of scholarships achievable to increase the odds of funding your university degree with as little college debt when you finish as possible. Societies, hobby related groups and even local organizations may provide grants. Southpaw programs are simply one case; financial help is also obtainable if you’re a child of a member of the services or suffer from a handicap, to offer some illustrations.

Do You Need A Golf Travel Bag?
When driving the short distance to your favorite local golf course, a golf travel bag isn’t necessary. But when traveling by airplane or long distance driving, a regular golf bag won’t offer the protection your clubs need.
How much are your golf clubs worth to you? Some of us have expensive custom made clubs, while others own a more affordable set. Whatever the retail value–our own clubs are what help us play our best game, so they are valuable to us. That’s why the Pros always bring their own clubs on tour.
Enjoy playing golf on that holiday trip by doing what you can to protect your clubs from damage while traveling. Here are a few tips when trying to choose the best golf travel bag for your situation.
Hard Travel Cases
The case is a hard plastic shell that provides the most protection from drops and falls. These are the ideal choice when traveling by air. You won’t be able to carry your clubs on the plane with you, so you’ll want the best protection you can get with the baggage handling process involved. It can get rough down there!
Soft Travel Cases
Made from more pliant fabric, these are more car friendly since the outer shell is more flexible. Look for bags that use double stitching as this provides a sturdier hold.
Wheels
Carry your golf travel bag around for a bit and you’ll be wishing it had wheels. Imagine walking what seems like miles through a busy airport while carrying your golf clubs–inline wheels are a must.
Handles & Straps
Look for sturdy, double stitched handles and straps that will easily hold the weight against pulling and lifting.
Padding
Watch that the bag has some amount of foam padding. This will absorb much of the shock from a drop or from heavy banging.
Traveling and playing with our own golf clubs beats renting clubs hands down! By using a golf travel case, you’ll be protecting your clubs from damage and ensuring you have them when you need them most–on the golf course!

A Revolution in Golf Clubs
The golf club of today, is not your Daddy’s golf club! In days past you had your choice of 5-6 major brand names, you did not have a lot of choice about how your clubs were made, how they were fitted, what materials were used, etc.
Wow has that changed! Today the number of major club making manufacturers has exploded, you can buy custom made clubs, you can buy brand name mass produced clubs fitted exactly to your swing, you can buy clones or knockoffs of those mass produced brands, you can buy build it yourself components that will match the specifications and quality of any thing offered by the major manufacturers.
One of the biggest changes has been in “woods”, first they are almost all made of metal or composite material today, why they are still called “woods” is anybody’s guess. Just 20 years ago traditional wood drivers of about 200CC’s volume were still in most golf bags, today’s high performance driver pushes 460CC’s in volume, is made of titanium or a blend of titanium and some exotic composite material, a graphite shaft, adjustable or changeable weight plugs that are purported to influence ball flight patterns and cost upwards of $700.00 for a major brand name. And of course golfers being the ego maniacs that we are have to have the best, most high tech driver in the bag.
Fairway woods (also metal) have not grown as much in size, however there are different face heights, weight plug options, and many shaft and grip choices.
Irons are now oversized, mid-sized, cavity backed cast, forged, milled, offset, sling backed, and this is just part of the verbiage. The array of shafts available is staggering, the range of prices for shafts is amazing. A major brand name full set of irons priced at $1,100 or more is not unusual.
Let’s not overlook putters, the traditional blade putter could be hard to find. Check the names of these putters, SRT 2-Ball Putter, Tri-Ball SRT Putter, Studio Style Putter, 2 Bar Putter, some of the styles available look as if they came from another planet. The site I found these putters on listed 138 brand name putters, ranging in price from $19.99 to $299.00, the vast majority of them were around $130.00.
Send in the clones…along with the explosion of major brand name manufacturers, there has also been an explosion of companies who either manufacture or import “clone” of “knockoff” clubs that have the same or very similar specifications and features of some of the more familiar brand names, some of them even copy the cosmetic features. Many of these clones or knockoff clubs have been challenged in court for patent infringement, some have lost and some have not.
What is the value of these companies? Glad you asked…most of them sell their products at a fraction of the cost of the major brand name products, even if your ego will not let you carry a clone club in your bag, you can still buy one of these clubs that has similar specs and features to the brand name you are considering, this is a relatively inexpensive way to check out what you think may work. Another way to perform the same experiment is to have a custom club maker build you a club that mimics the brand name you are after, or of course you can buy the components and tools and build-it-yourself.
When you are finished with your evaluation you can take out a second on the house, sell the clone or custom club to one of your golf partners and buy that coveted major brand name club. Then go out and take some lessons, because no matter what the advertising or the salesperson promised, that new club will not, by itself, make you hit it like Tiger!
So where are you going to buy your new clubs? As little as 20 years ago the only place to find the major brand names and the expertise to properly fit a club to your swing was a golf course pro shop. Today your choices are almost endless. There are any number of “big Box” golf superstores, with complete on hand stocks of anything you could want, many of which also have websites. There are major web only retailers, mort have some type of fitting chart that will get you close to the ideal club. The Internet has also made it east for a small custom club maker to put his wares on the web, and this is where in many cases you will find the most expertise, just do a search for “custom golf clubmakers”. Then there are the clone and knockoff companies, and some of these products are fantastic values, search for “clone golf clubs”.
Wherever, and whatever you buy…Enjoy your new clubs. And then when you are on the first tee or the driving range and the guy next to you or ahead of you is hitting 300 yard drives with an old wood headed club, you can wonder why.
